The Costa Goldex Morocco Book Award &

Young Writer’s Prize

We are thrilled to introduce The Costa Goldex Morocco Book Award & Young Writer’s Prize, 2 initiatives aimed at fostering education, literacy, and the growth of English literature in Morocco!

About The 2 Awards...

The Costa Goldex Morocco Book Award will be granted to a Moroccan-authored book written and published in the English language. This annual award seeks to celebrate aspiring Moroccan authors and promote their works on a national scale.

The Costa Goldex Young Writer's Prize will be in recognition and support of the already existing Moroccan high school short story competition organized by the Morocco Library Project (MLP) and the Olive Seed Foundation. The MLP holds an annual English short story writing competition throughout the country, with the best stories being published as an anthology. Both awards will be presented annually in January at a special ceremony during the Marrakech English Book Festival (MEBF) and the winning writers will be featured guests of the literary event. The first award ceremony will be held during the next edition of the MEBF over the weekend 17th to 19th January 2025.

Prizes

The winning author of the Costa Goldex Morocco Book Award will receive a distinguished cash prize of 25,000 DH, accompanied by a national promotional campaign orchestrated by Costa Goldex Morocco to promote the winning author and enhance the sales of his book.

The overall winning young writer of the Costa Goldex Young Writer's Prize will receive recognition and support, including a cash prize and assistance in publicizing and distributing the anthology of short stories through Costa Goldex's national network of stores.

Shortlisting & Recognition

A shortlist of 3 exceptional books will be unveiled approximately 3 months prior to the Marrakech English Book Festival. While only one book will clinch the top honor, authors of the shortlisted titles will receive commendations from the Awards Committee during the awards ceremony held during the MEBF.
